In automotive transmission systems, high-precision machinery, and industrial chain drive manufacturing, complex-shaped precision gears, sprockets, and flanges pose strict challenges to the fine blanking performance of materials. Recently, we successfully secured a large-scale precision fine blanking steel strip inquiry: C22E fine blanking steel strip, with a thickness of 2.0mm, a width of approximately 200mm, fully compliant with the EN 10084 standard, designated for precision gears, sprockets, flanges, and other fine blanking parts, with a total demand of 50 tons.
Facing this carburizing steel order, which demands strict thickness precision, spherodized microstructure, and burr-free blanking, we delivered a precision narrow strip solution through our 20-high Sendzimir precision rolling mill and high-purity hydrogen-protected spheroidizing annealing technology.
I. Material Gene Decryption: The Hardcore Strength of EN 10084 C22E Quality Carburizing Steel
C22E (international grade 1.1151) belongs to quality carburizing steel under the EN 10084 standard, with its chemical and metallographic design tailored specifically for fine blanking processes:
1.Fine Carbon-Manganese Ratio: Carbon content is controlled between 0.17%–0.24%, and manganese content between 0.50%–0.80%. This guarantees basic strength while establishing the ideal foundation for subsequent surface carburizing and quenching.
2.Superior Spherodized Microstructure and Plasticity: After precision spheroidizing annealing, the material acquires a uniform, fine globular carbide structure with a hardness of ≤170 HB. This enables uniform plastic deformation rather than brittle fracture during fine blanking, ensuring a clean, burr-free sheared surface.
3.Widespread Application Scenarios: Widely used for the fine blanking production of precision gears, sprockets, flanges, selector forks, and other automotive and mechanical transmission parts. Direct carburizing and quenching can be performed after fine blanking to achieve a comprehensive performance of high surface hardness and high core toughness.
II. Precision Breakthrough: Sendzimir Rolling Mill and ±0.005mm Thickness Control
Fine blanking processes are extremely sensitive to raw material thickness tolerances; any thickness fluctuation directly impacts tool life and part accuracy. Relying on our 20-high Sendzimir precision rolling mill, we achieved next-level thickness management:
1.Micron-Level Thickness Control: We stably control the thickness accuracy of the 2.0mm strip within ±0.005mm, far surpassing conventional standards.
2.Top-Tier Strip Shape and Surface Finish: Flatness is stably maintained at ≤ 3 I-units, and surface roughness is optimized to Ra≤0.4μm, creating ideal conditions for efficient, stable automated fine blanking.
III. Core Process Safeguards: High Spherodization Rate Annealing and Residual Stress Relief
The core soul of fine blanking steel lies in the control of metallographic structures and internal stresses:
1.High Spherodization Rate Control via Full-Hydrogen Bell Furnace: Fine blanking steel imposes extremely strict requirements on spherodized structures. We employ a 99.999% high-purity H2-protected full-hydrogen bell annealing furnace coupled with precisely optimized temperature-time annealing curves, ensuring a carbide spherodization rate of ≥90% and hardness uniformity of ≤±5HV. The uniform, fine spherodized structure ensures smooth material flow during fine blanking, completely eliminating tearing or burrs on the sheared edges.
2.Stress Relief Annealing and Multi-Grade Matrix: The equipped stress relief annealing lines ensure that rolling residual stresses are fully released, preventing warpage or deformation in parts after fine blanking. In addition, we can stably supply multiple fine blanking steel grades such as C15E, C22E, 16MnCr5, and 42CrMo4, fully covering varying strength levels and complex application requirements.
From strict benchmarking against the EN 10084 standard and micron-level thickness control via the 20-high Sendzimir mill to the ideal shaping of high-spherodization microstructure via full-hydrogen annealing, we are leveraging a steady 50-ton production capacity to continuously empower global precision transmission and fine blanking component manufacturers!
